Successfully initiate, plan, execute, control, and close a project

As a project manager, you’re faced with the challenge of influencing people over whom you have no direct managerial authority. Project success depends on your ethical political savvy to persuade all of your key stakeholders and to communicate with them in a persuasive manner. In the course, you’ll apply all of the skills necessary to successfully initiate, plan, execute, control, and close a project. Working as part of a team on a simulated six-month, mid-sized, high-priority project, you will be responsible for developing the key project management deliverables, including the project charter, work breakdown structure (WBS), scope and cost management, project schedule, resource leveling, status reports and post-project reviews.

You will learn how to:

  • Use practical models for influencing people without direct authority
  • Understand organizational dynamics and politics and how they affect influence strategies
  • Hone and polish your persuasion and influence communication skills
  • Be more persuasive with project sponsors, stakeholders, and team members
  • Apply the skills in a hands-on practicum with a project and receive real-time coaching
